Influenza A H1N1 Virus 2009 Synthetic Hemagglutinin and Neuraminidase Peptides for Antibody Detection

Abstract

Background
Influenza serologic diagnosis is mainly based on hemagglutination inhibition and microneutralization methods, both methods require handling living viruses under an enhanced biosafety level.

Aim
The current study was performed for developing an ELISA using synthetic peptides to detect influenza A H1N1 virus 2009 specific antibodies in serum and saliva.

Efficacy of the Combination of Pinaverium Bromide 100mg Plus Simethicone 300mg in Abdominal Pain and Bloating in Irritable Bowel Syndrome: A Randomized, Placebo-controlled Trial

Abstract

Goals: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of PB+S (pinaverium bromide 100 mg plus simethicone 300 mg) in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Background: IBS is a multifactorial disorder; thus, combination therapy with different mechanisms of action is expected to be useful. PB+S has shown effectiveness in an open-label clinical study in IBS. However, there are no placebo-controlled trials.

In Vitro Employment of Recombinant Taenia solium Calreticulin as a Novel Strategy Against Breast and Ovarian Cancer Stem-like Cells

Abstract

Background and aims: Calreticulin is a chaperone and master regulator of intracellular calcium homeostasis. Several additional functions have been discovered. Human and parasite calreticulin have been shown to suppress mammary tumor growth in vivo. Here, we explored the capacity of recombinant Taenia solium calreticulin (rTsCRT) to modulate cancer cell growth in vitro.

Alexithymia is associated with mood disorders, impairment in quality of life and disability in women with fibromyalgia

Abstract

Objectives: Alexithymia is a personality trait related to the quality of life of women with fibromyalgia (FM). It is still unknown whether alexithymia is associated with the clinical manifestations of FM. The present study describes the relationship between alexithymia and the domains included in the core set recommended by the Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) for FM evaluation.
