On June 22nd, 2022, the Fondazione Lanza organized a meeting to launch the Italian translation of the book by Dr. Henk Ten Have, a researcher at our Faculty of Bioethics, entitled Global Bioethics: An Introduction, to which Sabina Girotto, a graduate of the second generation of the Master In Global Bioethics M.S. Online to make this presentation.
During the presentation, it was established that the work is an introduction to the global bioethic's field and addresses the problems that require a broader vision of bioethics that not only goes beyond the current emphasis on individual autonomy, that is, that criticizes the social, economic and political context that is causing problems globally.
He also points out that global bioethics is not a finished product that can simply be applied to solve global problems, but rather is the continuous result of interaction and exchange between local practices and global discourse.
It combines recognition of differences and respect for cultural diversity with convergence towards common perspectives and shared values, as well as examining the nature of global problems, as well as the type of responses that are needed to exemplify the essence of global bioethics.
