Types of Exchange

By slot exchange:

When there is an agreement with your university and it does not indicate payment of tuition fees:

  • Slots per term (semester – summer session):
    • Two for North Campus
    • Two for South Campus
  • If our agreement indicates a specified number of slots, the provisions of said agreement will be respected.

Study abroad without an agreement:

If there is no cooperation agreement with your university, the following tuition fees will be payable:

Study Abroad with an agreement:

If there is an agreement with your university and it does indicate payment of tuition fees.

For universities with an agreement of this type, a 20% discount will be applied to the Study Abroad fees.

Consortia and associations:

  • CONAHEC and SUMA:
    The number of slots granted will be as stipulated in the calls for applications of each consortium or association. Applications must be made directly on the platforms of said consortia or associations.
  • DOUCAL, PROCAI, eMOVIES and the Alianza del Pacifico:
    Maximum of two slots for each of our campuses (four in total) per university affiliated with the consortium or association, with a maximum of 20 students per consortium or association.

Important: In the event there are more candidates than the slots allocated, please send the nominations as "EXTRA". Additional students may be accepted reciprocally based on the total availability of spaces. In this case, the choice of campus is at the discretion of Anahuac México University.

In all cases, nominations must be equally distributed between our two campuses.

Application Process

  1. The home university sends the nomination via e-mail with the following information:

    • Home country
    • Home city
    • Home university
    • Full name
    • Academic level of the nomine: Undergraduate, Master's or Doctoral degree
    • Area of study at home university
    • Date of birth
    • Exchange mode: online or on-site
    • Campus to be visited: North or South (only in on-site exchange)
    • Exchange term: semester, summer, year or quarters (quarters for graduate programs only)
    • Platform or Consortium (only if applicable): Americanum Mobilitas, eMOVIES, SUMA, PROCAI or the Pacific Alliance
    • Student e-mail

    For virtual exchanges on ODUCAL and eMOVIES:

    • Courses to which the student is applying
  2. Each student will receive an e-mail with:

    • A link to the exchange application
    • Exchange release letter

    Students must click on the link, complete the exchange application and upload the following documents:

    • Exchange release letter
    • Valid passport
    • Academic transcript
  3. Acceptance letters will be sent by e-mail within two weeks of successful submission of the application and requested documents. With this document, students will be able to apply for their student visa if necessary.

Exchange fee:

A MANDATORY EXCHANGE PROGRAM FEE of $137 dollars (USD) for on-site exchanges and $35 dollars (USD) for online exchanges will be applied for administrative procedures, which must be paid during the first week of classes to complete the registration process as an exchange student and be activated in the university's systems.

Costs are updated annually every January based on the inflation rate in Mexico.

*Costs are expressed in USD for reference, using a fixed exchange rate of 18 Mexican pesos (MXN) to the dollar. Payment will be made in MXN at the established rate of $2,460.00 MXN for on-site exchanges and $630.00 MXN for online exchanges.*

Language Requirements

Mandatory Spanish language B2 certificate:

  • For non-Spanish-speaking students

English language B2 certificate:

  • For students who want to take courses in English

All non-Spanish-speaking students will take a free Spanish placement exam and must enroll in a mandatory Spanish course during their exchange for six academic credit hours (96 hours total).

For exceptions in Spanish levels lower than B2, write to incoming.mexico@anahuac.mx, each case will be evaluated individually.

Students may apply for exchanges of:

  • A semester
  • A full academic year
  • A summer
  • One or two quarters (for graduate programs only)
  • Research visits
  • Medical rotations (only for universities with a specific rotation agreement)
  • 100 % online exchanges
  • 100 % on-site exchanges

Admission Requirements for Academic Exchanges

  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.9 or equivalent on their country's grading scale.
  • Have no failed courses at the time of application.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Pass the academic exchange process at their home university.

Course registration:

Students may take a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 54 Anáhuac credits.

Insurance

a) International exchanges:

International exchange students must take out the insurance policy that Anáhuac México University indicates upon receipt of their letter of acceptance. Other insurance policies will not be accepted. For more information on insurance coverage write to incoming.mexico@anahuac.mx

b) National exchanges:

  • We accept any major medical expense insurance with national coverage that covers the entire time of the exchange (IMSS or ISSSTE are not accepted).
  • Students can use their university's insurance policy if it covers them in Mexico City.
  • Students can use their family's insurance policy if they have one.
  • If a student does not find any insurance meeting his or her needs, Anáhuac México University offers major medical expense insurance for its regular students at a cost of $3,355.00 MXN (2025 price) per semester.

Immigration Requirements

Travel to Mexico requires a valid passport, irrespective of the duration or reason for the trip. Student visas are only necessary in some cases.

How do I know if I need a visa to travel to Mexico?

You don't need a visa if you meet the following criteria:

  1. You are a citizen of any of the countries or regions for which a visa to travel to Mexico IS NOT required (check the list at the following link).
  2. Your stay in Mexico is less than 180 days.

You do need a visa if at least one of these two criteria apply:

  1. You are a citizen of any of the countries or regions for which a visa to travel to Mexico IS required (check the list at the following link).
  2. Your stay in Mexico is longer than 180 days.
