We participated in the First Archdiocesan Congress on Bioethics in León, Guanajuato

The conference, organized by the Life Dimension of the Archdiocese of León, brought together experts, church authorities, and academics to reflect on current ethical challenges surrounding the dignity of human life.

On March 28 and 29, 2025, we reflected and discussed the current challenges surrounding the defense of life. The First Archdiocesan Congress on Bioethics "The Crisis of Life: Origins and Horizons of Hope" was held in the city of León, Guanajuato.

The event was organized by the Life Dimension of the Archdiocese of León, under the coordination of Father Hugo C. Landeros Aguirre, head of said dimension, who brought together academics, students, pastoral workers, and the general public interested in the ethical foundations and challenges facing contemporary society in relation to the beginning, care, and end of human life.

The congress was attended by the Archbishop of León, Jaime Calderón Calderón, who opened the proceedings with an exhortation to promote a culture of respect and human dignity from a Christian perspective. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of spaces like this one for illuminating with hope the ethical complexities of today's world.

One of the highlights of the conference was the participation of Father Fernando Fabó Martín, LC, a researcher at the School of Bioethics at Anáhuac University in Mexico. He gave a keynote address entitled "Continuous and Emerging Challenges in Bioethics," where he addressed current dilemmas related to the beginning of life, euthanasia, and human rights, from a profound perspective committed to truth and the dignity of human beings.

This event not only enriched the interdisciplinary dialogue between science, ethics, and faith, but also strengthened the bonds of collaboration between Anáhuac México and its various campuses, promoting comprehensive education and social commitment among its members in line with the values of Christian humanism.

The congress concluded with a call to continue deepening bioethics as a key tool for discerning and acting responsibly in the face of the challenges of contemporary life.
