On September 18, 2024, the Universidad Anáhuac México held a day of reflection and activities to commemorate the International Day of Peace, in which members of the School of Bioethics participated.
The event began with a talk titled “Peace Processes: Where can we build paths for peaceful coexistence today?” in which Ms. Jessica Lepe, member of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) and founder of The Voices of Silence; Dr. Mónica Chávez and Dr. José Sols, members of the Universidad Iberoamericana, and Dr. María Elizabeth de los Rios, professor-researcher at the School of Bioethics of the Universidad Anáhuac México, who discussed fundamental topics such as the factors that They promote and alter peace, as well as the pacification process in different contexts.
Throughout the day, the university community engaged in various activities that fostered collaboration and dialogue. Students, academics, administrators and members of the Student Federation of Student Societies (FESAL) came together to organize dynamics of integration and reflection around peace.
The International Day for Peace culminated with an interfaith prayer led by representatives of various religions such as Rabbi Marcelo Rittner, Monsignor Lizardo Estrada, Fr. Archimandrita Filareto and Fr. Peter Mullan, L.C., who shared a reflection and a prayer for the peace, each one from their religion.
As a symbolic gesture that remembers and endorses the Anáhuac Community's commitment to peace, the participants wrote on white bandanas commitments to build a world of unity, which, intertwined, formed a chain that was placed in the cauldron of the North Campus as a symbol of unity and hope, an activity that was accompanied by a final message from Father César Hernández Rendón, L.C., vice-rector of Comprehensive Formation.
