On December 4, 2023, the School of Bioethics of the Anahuac University Mexico organized the VI Winter 2023 Research Colloquium, a virtual event that featured the participation of various experts who created a space conducive to exchange of knowledge, encouraged dialogue and facilitated the resolution of doubts that arose during the presentations.

The inaugural lecture was given by María Cristina de la Cruz Ayuso, director of the Doctoral School, president of the Research Ethics Committee and senior researcher at the University of Deusto, Bilbao, Spain, who addressed crucial aspects related to vulnerability in different research groups.

Francesca Caregnato Tosetto gave the presentation "The bioethical principle of freedom-responsibility as a basis for the first medical consultation", in which various reflections on responsibility and the use of vulnerability in the doctor-patient relationship were explored.

In the second presentation, Linda Arturo Delgado spoke about the "Multidimensionality of the Mother-Neonate Binomial" in which she highlighted the importance of conceiving the neonate as a multidimensional being and emphasized the biological, cognitive, emotional, social, cultural and spiritual. Once this concept was established, she reflected on the need to safeguard the vulnerability of this binomial through a comprehensive and enriching vision.

David Cerdio Domínguez presented the topic "Analysis of freedom and responsibility in the opioid prescription process", in which he explored various fundamental concepts, highlighting responsibility as an indivisible aspect of the full experience of being human and invited those present to act in a co-responsible manner and to actively participate as builders of society.

In the fourth presentation, Jesús David Vallejo Cardona shared his knowledge of the topic "Contributions of personalist Bioethics in palliative care in patients with Alzheimer's", presentation in which he highlighted the need to individualize palliative care for these patients throughout the entire disease process, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary and comprehensive approaches and proposing the family as a fundamental therapeutic unit in this context.

During the conference "Bioethical Aspects in the investigation of mental health problems mediated by ICTx", Magda Liliana Rincón Meléndez explored mental health problems as vulnerable factors in research studies, recognizing three important aspects: the objectification of the subject, its instrumentalization and its use as a means to obtain information and fulfill research objectives, addressing reflection from dignity.

Three speakers participated in the block on Physiotherapy and Bioethics: Pamela Marcone Dapelo, Amanda Elizabeth García Barrera and Paola Penagos, who presented the topics "Implementation of aquatic therapies with a community approach: a Bioethical response to social vulnerability", "Context of Research Ethics and Scientific Integrity in Latin America" and "Social Representations of Paralympic Athletes. An Analysis from the Principle of Sociability and Subsidiarity of Personalist Bioethics", respectively.

This space showed the impact of different approaches to Bioethics and physiotherapy on vulnerable people, due to disabilities, socioeconomic conditions or the lack of regulatory regulation in these areas.

To conclude, the talk "The evolution of the human-dog bond: from survival to therapy" was broadcast, which was given by Tamara Yazmín Hernández López, who explored the evolution of the relationship between humans and dogs, highlighting how this Beneficial bonding has expanded the boundaries of science and given rise to new forms of therapy and emotional support.

To close the event, María Elizabeth de los Ríos Uriarte, research coordinator at the School of Bioethics, expressed her gratitude to the speakers and participants of the Colloquium for their valuable contribution and extended the invitation to attendees to continue participating in the dynamics of research and bioethics organized by our School.
