This edition addressed the issue of mental health and the obstacles faced by medical students regarding this issue.
On March 25, 2023, the seventh webinar of the Bioethics Centers of the Anahuac University Network entitled "The importance of mental health in medical students: a bioethical perspective" was held, an event that was in charge of Ricardo Mayrén García, from the Anahuac Oaxaca University and general coordinator of the Bioethics Centers, in which four speakers highlighted the importance of this topic.
Rodrigo Felguerez, director of the Faculty of Psychology at the Universidad Anáhuac Oaxaca, began by sharing some support strategies so that medical personnel can have good mental health. Subsequently, Israel Martínez, coordinator of the undergraduate internship at the Universidad Anáhuac México, spoke about the most common obstacles to mental health, as well as the physical pathologies that can be caused by this problem. While Enrique Avilés, professor of Medicine at the Universidad Anáhuac Cancún, discussed the issue of adaptability and knowledge of our limitations within the medical field, as well as a general approach to mental health, from his perspective as a psychiatrist. Finally, Sonia López, professor at the Universidad Anáhuac México, closed by mentioning the perspective of medical empathy as an ethical competence.
