Querida Amazonía Meeting: Reflection on Saint Thomas and Social Reality

Querida Amazonía

Dr. Agustín Ortega Cabrera spoke about the importance of theology and anthropology, highlighting how grace, nature, and ecological openness help us better understand reality.

On February 26, 2025, the Querida Amazonia meeting took place, where Dr. Agustín Ortega Cabrera explored topics on the relevance of Thomasian thought and its impact on the current social, political, and ecological context.

During the event, he spoke about the importance of theology and anthropology, highlighting how grace, nature, and ecological openness help us better understand reality, as well as the relationship between faith and reason, fostering dialogue between different cultures and religions.

One of the central themes was social justice and morality, based on the idea that the whole is greater than the part and that good is shared. The importance of solidarity and compassion in achieving a more just society was also highlighted, as was the need for an economic model that serves life and responds to human needs.

Likewise, Dr. Ortega Cabrera stated that "unity comes before conflict," calling for the fight against injustice, inequality, and spiritual poverty.

The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session that enriched all attendees academically and humanistically. We are grateful to the speaker for his valuable contribution.
