Patricia Mancilla enters the CREEi Bioethics Scholarship Program

CREEi

Our PhD student in Applied Bioethics will participate in this program that works daily on bioethics training in the face of new health complexes and dilemmas in Latin America and the Caribbean.

After a long and competitive process, on December 6, Patricia Raquel Mancilla Dávila, student of the Doctorate in Applied Bioethics, by our Faculty of Bioethics and coordinator of the Bioethics division at the Center for Advanced Social Research, was selected to enter the Bioethics Scholars Program of the Caribbean Research Ethics Education initiative (CREEi), which is based on working daily on bioethics training in the face of new complex health dilemmas in Latin America and the Caribbean.

CREEi is a program that enables reflection with an ethical perspective, argumentation in the generation of plans, programs and public health policies, as well as social relevance, integrity and human dignity, in addition to guaranteeing the exercise of individual autonomy.

Some of its objectives are:

  • To provide a culturally relevant knowledge base and skill set in research ethics that enables fellows to work as independent specialists in research ethics in their countries and institutions.
  • Prepare fellows and professors to act as educators in research ethics in their countries and institutions of origin.
  • Prepare fellows to facilitate institutional change regarding ethical practices in research.
  • Develop and further sustain a research ethics network in the Caribbean.
