Throughout the event, topics such as comprehensive health care, equitable access to medical services, the promotion of active participation in society were discussed, and the importance of respect for rights and healthy aging was highlighted.
On May 14, 2024, in an effort to promote a better quality of life and respect for the human rights of people aged 60 and older, the first panel of experts titled "Dignification of Older Adults" was held, which was organized by the DIF of the State of Mexico.
The objective of this event was to foster an environment that promotes healthy and dignified aging, as well as to raise awareness about the importance of guaranteeing the protection and rights of this sector of the population.
To do this, it convened professionals from various fields who addressed crucial issues that impact the lives of older adults, highlighting the participation of Dr. Patricia Hernández Valdez, coordinator of the online Master's Degree in Bioethics, who shared her vast experience and knowledge in the field of medical ethics and the care of these people.
In addition, fundamental topics were addressed, such as comprehensive health care, equitable access to medical services, the prevention of mistreatment and abuse, as well as the promotion of active participation in society.
To this end, the inherent dignity of all older people was recognized and guarantee that their rights are protected and respected at all stages of their life. In addition, society must work together to create an environment that allows older adults to live fully and happily.
The importance of strengthening intergenerational ties and promoting a culture of respect and appreciation towards this sector in all spheres of society was also highlighted.
Finally, participants committed to continue working together to implement policies and programs that improve the well-being of older adults and promote their full integration into their community.
This panel represented a significant step towards creating a more just and compassionate environment for those who have contributed so much to our communities throughout their lives, laying the foundation for a future where aging is seen as a time of opportunity and personal fulfillment.
