During the ceremony, crucial topics about education in Mexico were addressed, highlighting challenges and future perspectives.
On August 14, 2024, the School of Bioethics participated in the Opening Ceremony of the 2024-2025 Academic Year at the Universidad Anáhuac México North Campus. The event began with a Eucharistic celebration, followed by a solemn academic ceremony in which university authorities, teachers, students and members of the academic community gathered.
The First Lecture was given by Doctor Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas, Rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), who served as guest of honor. In his speech, Dr. Lomelí addressed crucial issues regarding education in Mexico, highlighting challenges and future perspectives. He called for collaboration between academic institutions, stressing that "education is a fundamental factor for social transformation." Likewise, he discussed the importance of correcting the gender gap in the educational field and highlighted the need to increase public spending on education, particularly in science and technology.
The rector of Universidad Anáhuac México, Dr. Cipriano Sánchez García, LC, was present at the ceremony along with Dr. Lorena Martínez Verduzco, academic vice-rector, as well as other vice-rectors of the university.
During the event, a video was shown that highlighted the academic achievements of the University of the year 2024, including the offering of 48 bachelor's programs, an enrollment of 12,480 students, and the delivery of 18 doctorates, 47 master's degrees and 26 specialties.
Two medals from the rector's committee were awarded and new members were added to said committee. Dr. Cipriano presented a gift to Dr. Lomelí on behalf of the university community as a token of gratitude for his participation.
