The Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (CELAM) forms a research group to study Artificial Intelligence and its ethical regulation.
On May 28, 2024, Dr. María Elizabeth de los Ríos Uriarte, research coordinator of the School of Bioethics, participated as a founding member of the Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence (AI) of the Documentation Center of the Latin American Episcopal Council and of the Caribbean (CELAM), whose main purpose is to reflect on the design, development, production and ethical use of this technology.
This group began its activities with 10 prominent members in the field, from the Catholic University of Puerto Rico, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Deusto and the Ibero-American University.
Furthermore, given the current challenges that AI presents, this study group seeks to channel it for the good of the person and society, which is why it will meet in person in the month of August to begin its research itinerary.
