The purpose of this academic activity is to strengthen international relations with prestigious institutions such as the University of Deusto, make agreements and consolidate interdisciplinary and international research teams.
With the purpose of strengthening international relations with prestigious universities and making interdisciplinary agreements, Dr. María Elizabeth de los Rios Uriarte, Research Coordinator of our Faculty of Bioethics, carried out a research stay at the Human Rights Institute of the University of Deusto in Bilbao, Spain, from July 3 to 14, 2023.
This stay made it possible to generate a new line of research for the Faculty: "Bioethics, Vulnerability and Human Rights" that was carried out with researchers from said institute under the direction of Dr. María Cristina de la Cruz Ayuso, director of the Doctoral School.
The line of research is in the process of structuring, since it contemplates carrying out projects in conjunction with the faculties of Health Sciences, Education and Humanities, Social Responsibility and Law, and will aim to generate research on the notion of vulnerability and its expression in people and communities to create solutions through the principles of Bioethics and Human Rights.
This activity also made it possible to establish a more solid link for the exchange of students and professors, increase the dissemination spaces of the Medicine and Ethics magazine of the Faculty of Bioethics, as well as publication for our students and researchers, the follow-up of research stays in the future and joint collaboration for academic and dissemination forums.
It should be noted that the University of Deusto is an institution founded by the Society of Jesus with the objective of serving society with a Christian vision of reality through excellence in research and the generation and promotion of knowledge in dialogue with faith.
We appreciate the support of both the Internationalization Department, headed by Professor Patricia Ruiz Ortega, and the Research Department, headed by Dr. José Honorio Cárdenas, for promoting collaboration with prestigious universities that allow the generation of new lines and research projects with high social impact.
