This conference represented an opportunity to exchange knowledge, perspectives and best practices, thus consolidating joint efforts towards a more reflective and critical approach in the field of bioethics.
The IX International Congress of Redbioethics UNESCO 2023: "Critical bioethics for complex times" was held virtually, from November 15 to 17. This outstanding event was organized by the UNESCO Redbioethics in conjunction with the Bioethics Research Institute.
The fundamental mission of UNESCO Redbioethics is the defense of justice, equality, peace and full respect for human rights in all aspects related to ethical dilemmas linked to life in general and comprehensive health.
Patricia Hernández Valdez, coordinator of the online Master's Degree in Bioethics, contributed to Round Table 7 on Research Ethics in Latin America and the Caribbean, highlighting that "beneficence towards vulnerable people must be an ethical Maximum in which all decisions.”
Likewise, Jennifer Hincapié, member of the advisory council of the Faculty of Bioethics until 2022 and part of the organizing committee, participated as moderator in Dialogue Table 3: Bioethics and Voluntary Interruption of Pregnancy in LAC.

The event was aimed at teachers, researchers, students and the general public with the purpose of addressing the significant changes that we as a society have experienced and in anticipation of the transformations that are taking place.
