More than 130 executives meet to discuss the role of Catholic Universities in comprehensive training and service to society.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universidad Anáhuac México, more than 130 executives from the 15 institutions of the International Network of Universities (RIU) were convened to discuss and reflect on the future of higher education in the context of Regnum Christi.
The first day was focused on Identity: Universities of Regnum Christi, "A calling". It began with the institutional photo and a message from Father Cipriano Sánchez García, L.C., rector of the Universidad Anáhuac México, where he highlighted the importance of knowing and creating community. Likewise, the rectors of the different universities presented their work teams and the RIU was presented as a great collaboration network.
Father Pedro Barrajón, L.C., spoke about the identity and history of Regnum Christi, while Father Jesús Villagrasa, L.C., emphasized the true identity of a Catholic university.
The theme of the second day was Leadership: Regnum Christi Universities, “A Service”, beginning with a virtual meeting with Father John Connor, L.C., director general of the Legionaries of Christ, who spoke about the exercise of leadership of Regnum Christi in the institutions of the network, subsequently delved into the concept of leadership and its application in training within the universities of the network.
The community: Community of Regnum Christi Universities, “A hope”, was the focus of the third day of the meeting, beginning with a panel of directors, with the objective to develop ideas for the creation of communities of hope within the network. Dr. Salvador Ortiz de Montellano created a space for reflection, seeking introspection and recognition of the importance of creating deep ties within the university community.
The last day of this great meeting focused on the Collaborative Spirit of the Universities of Regnum Christi, “One Mission”, beginning with a talk given by Eng. Miguel Pérez, focused on building the future of the community.
The event ended at the Universidad Anáhuac México North Campus, with a closing plenary by teams, in which it was possible to share conclusions and plans to continue with the mission of the RIU.
The first meeting of RIU directors marked a significant milestone in collaboration and educational strategy. These 4 days of intense discussions and reflections allowed us to highlight the importance of strengthening the Catholic identity of the network, promoting leadership based on values and fostering the creation of communities of hope.
