Sessions held in Croatia explored the multidisciplinary nature of ethics education, encouraging participants to embrace different perspectives.
The 11th International Conference on Ethics Education: “Ethics Education, Interdisciplinarity and Pluriperspectivism”, held in the city of Zagreb, Croatia, from June 15th to 17th, 2023, brought together academics, teachers, doctors and students from various countries, fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment for academic discourse.
F. Emmanuel Uchechukwugeme Ogbu, student of the Master in Global Bioethics, had the opportunity to attend and this is what he shared with us: “I found out about the conference from Professor Henk Ten Have, who had given me the Global Bioethics course. He encouraged all of us to sign up and participate. It was my first international conference and I really had some fears, which I conquered before and within the conference. I wanted to participate because of my quest to learn more and develop myself for the task ahead."
Emmanuel traveled to Zagreb to present his paper titled “Cultural differences and the problem of cultural and ethical relativism in ethics education”, which he described as a really amazing and interesting experience.
He also engaged in stimulating discussions and exchanged ideas on a wide range of topics. The conference sessions explored the multidisciplinary nature of ethics education, encouraging participants to take on different perspectives, where they also met people from different countries.
“This event turned out to be a significant milestone for many attendees, particularly those like me who were experiencing our first international conference. Overcoming initial fears was crucial to the success of my participation and experience.”
Our student also explored the city's landmarks and learned about its history. In addition, he took the opportunity to inform that the 12th International Conference on Ethics Education is scheduled to take place in Mexico City from June 19th to 21, 2024 and encouraged all students to participate in this event.
We congratulate Emmanuel Uchechukwugeme for his outstanding academic participation and we wish him much success.
