We analyze the bioethical dilemmas of AI at the CAMIS 2025 Congress

María Elizabeth de los Ríos, professor-researcher at the School of Bioethics, spoke about the ethical challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence in medicine, highlighting the importance of a person-centered approach.

On February 12, 2025, the Anáhuac Mayab Interdisciplinary Health Congress (CAMIS 2025) was held, an academic forum where experts from different disciplines met to discuss current challenges in the health field.

In this context, Dr. María Elizabeth de los Rios Uriarte, professor-researcher at the School of Bioethics at Universidad Anáhuac México, gave a presentation on bioethical considerations surrounding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in health sciences.

During her presentation, she analyzed the technological advances in the use of AI in medicine and the ethical implications that these entail. Among the key points, she highlighted the need to avoid algorithmic biases, which can generate inequalities in medical care, as well as the importance of preserving humane and personalized treatment in the doctor-patient relationship.

Another key issue she addressed was the attribution of responsibilities in cases of medical errors related to AI, an issue that poses ethical and legal challenges in clinical decision-making. She also emphasized the need to develop cybersecurity plans and damage repair strategies to ensure the protection of patients and the reliability of automated systems.

In conclusion, she stressed that AI should be seen as a tool that complements medical work, but not as a substitute for human interaction. She also emphasized the importance of using technology with a person-centered approach, ensuring that its implementation is always aimed at improving the quality of medical care and not replacing clinical judgment or the bond between doctors and patients.

The CAMIS 2025 Congress has established itself as a space for reflection and analysis on the challenges facing health in the digital age, promoting a multidisciplinary debate on the balance between technological innovation and bioethical principles in medical practice.
