With its main objective of raising the human and social status of men and women in Mexico and the worlds, the Anahuac University was founded in 1964 at its provisional headquarters in Lomas Virreyes, Mexico City. The first official campus opened in 1968, at Interlomas, Huixquilucan, State of Mexico.
Since the opening of this first university, the commitment to educate a growing number of students in the physical, human, social, artistic and intellectual fields with great dynamism and promoting the integration of other institutions is what now makes up the network of Anahuac Universities.
Anáhuac Cancún University opened its doors on year 2000, receiving its first 147 undergraduate students on August 28th. At the time, the academic offer included Law, Communication, International Business, Administration, Public Accounting, International Tourism, Hotel Management and Restaurant Management.
The student enrollment goal was not only met, but exceeded. Due to an increase in demand, a new Business School freshman group opened on January 22nd, 2001 with a total number of 22 students.
The first academic extension programs were offered on October 2002, including Psychology of Children and Adolescents, Iconography and Corporate Management. It is worth mentioning that the university signed its first agreement of cooperation with COPARMEX, which enrolled 35 eminent local entrepreneurs in the Corporate Management course.
The university was taking its first steps and starting to position itself by adapting to the community’s interests; each of the courses offered in Cancun had remarkable results. These results made it possible to predict the university’s exponential growth in Cancun and the State of Quintana Roo.
