Our Rector, Dr. Cipriano Sánchez García, L.C., is honored with the 2024 CASE Leadership Award

The Rector of Anahuac Mexico University is known for his leadership and innovation. His work has transformed the lives of hundreds of people.

At the CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) Latin America 2024 Congress, held between April 28 and 30 at the CETYS University International Campus in Ensenada, Baja California, with educational leaders from across Latin America, our Rector, Dr. Cipriano Sánchez García, L.C., was presented with the CASE Leadership Award 2024 as a testament to his distinguished service in education.

CASE celebrates and recognizes leaders (rectors, board presidents and school principals) of member institutions who have demonstrated significant efforts and impressive track records supporting education and institutional advancement.

This international association promotes the development of educational institutions worldwide by training professionals working in alumni outreach, fundraising, communication, marketing and institutional alliances.
In this case, the Rector of our Anahuac Mexico University excelled through his leadership and innovation, and his work has transformed the lives of hundreds of people.

Dr. Cipriano Sánchez was born in Talavera de la Reina, Spain, in 1958. He is of Spanish and Mexican nationality. He joined the Catholic religious congregation Legionaries of Christ in 1975 and was ordained a priest in 1988 in Rome, Italy.

He began collaborating as academic vice rector at Anahuac Mexico North University in December 2014. He participated in various events commemorating the 50th anniversary of its founding, graduation ceremonies and institutional medal presentations, signing of agreements, and serving as a representative to the Anahuac University Network.

On November 1, 2015, he was appointed Rector of said Institution and at the beginning of June 2016, he was appointed the first Rector of the Anahuac Mexico University, which combined the Anahuac Mexico North and Anahuac Mexico South Universities. Thanks to his leadership and vision, he overcame the challenge of integrating them.

His leadership has been reflected in the challenges he has overcome, particularly the continuity of academic activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced the closure of both campuses from March 2020 to August 2021.

He is known for his human spirit, his closeness to students and colleagues and his active listening. Thanks to his management style, his communication skills have consolidated the positive image of the Institution, which is among the top 10 universities in Mexico according to the QS University Ranking. For six years, he has been on the list of the 300 Most Important Leaders in Mexico of the magazine Líderes Mexicanos.

The priority strategies he defined when he took office included innovation, communication and institutional growth. For this reason, he has placed immense importance on liaising with CASE and its directors. He has participated on several occasions in national and international congresses, such as the CASE Summit for Leaders on Advancement in New York and the CASE Latin America Congress 2019, where he was a panelist. At that congress, the Anahuac University gave a concert for all the participants at the Anahuac Mexiquense Cultural Center, a venue that won the CASE Platinum Awards Latin America 2020.

In addition to his responsibilities as Rector, he has extensive knowledge of family issues and social responsibility, which led him to create and direct the foundation Cenyeliztli, A.C., Unidos por la Familia in 2006, dedicated to promoting the family with a focus on social responsibility. From this foundation and with the support of the psychology departments of the Anahuac Mexico University, he created the Anahuac Cenyeliztli Psychological Assistance Clinic to provide professional emotional support to students and administrative staff.

Dr. Cipriano Sánchez presented the Anahuac LABS project to the academic and business community to reinforce the education of the world-class talent that Mexico needs. This project is currently underway and will be the first technological innovation cluster in Mexico. The Anáhuac Clinical Simulation Center is also under development to train future doctors by providing spaces and equipment that will equip students with the necessary tools and skills to succeed in an innovative and ever-changing environment.

As well as being a polyglot, he has published several works in the fields of spirituality on topics related to marriage and philosophy. As Rector, he has published Construcción de comunidad en tiempos modernos. Dos polacos en diálogo: Zygmunt Bauman y Karol Wojtyla, Junto con los otros. La construcción de la comunidad en el ámbito posmoderno dese la filosofía de Karol Wojtyla and La catedral tomista de la participación. As if that were not enough, he publishes a blog on values at ciprianosanchez.blogspot.com and maintains a strong presence on social networks.
