Inauguration of the Immersive Experience Room on the North Campus
Anahuac Leadership in Technology
This space will promote innovation, collaboration and experiential learning through virtual reality.
The inauguration ceremony for the Immersive Experience Room (SEI) was held on October 24, 2025. The SEI is a space dedicated to creation, collaboration and innovation, driven by virtual reality.
Located on the third floor of the North Campus Library, the SEI is a space of around 100m2 where students and teachers can immerse themselves in three-dimensional virtual environments. There, they can simulate complex or difficult-to-access scenarios in the real world; engage in experiential learning by directly manipulating objects with immediate feedback; solve challenges as a team within immersive environments; and receive advanced professional training through simulations that prepare our students for the challenges of today's workplace.
This is possible thanks to VIROO technology, which enables the connection of multiple virtual reality headsets in a single immersive environment, allowing participants to be present in a physical space while interacting with digital elements. It also allows us to connect the SEI with other rooms around the world that also have this technology.
Through Virtual4, a VIROO distributor, Anáhuac México University has signed a collaboration agreement with the GAIA Cluster, made up of technology companies and institutions in the Basque Country that already have collaborative virtual reality rooms, opening up opportunities for exchange and mutual development.
The SEI contributes to the consolidation efforts of the Anáhuac Technology Cluster, which consists of the Anáhuac LABS building, the Virtual Hospital and the Innovation and Technology Pavilion. The SEI, in particular, facilitates collaboration and interdisciplinarity supported by cutting-edge technologies, important aspects of the Anáhuac 5.0 Strategy.
The inauguration took place next to the John Paul II Room on the ground floor of the Library, which was connected remotely to the SEI on the third floor, so that the ribbon-cutting ceremony and official opening of the space could take place simultaneously.
In attendance were Dr. Cipriano Sánchez García, L.C., rector of our university; Lorena Rosalba Martínez Verduzco and Jose Rodrigo Pozón López, vice-rectors for academic affairs; Eduardo Robles Gil Orvañanos, L.C., vice-rector of Finance and Administration; Elisa Ruiz Ladrón de Guevara, Vice-Rector for Integral Formation; José Luis Tadeo Rivas Martínez, Secretary General; Alma Elizabeth Cázares Ruiz, Director of the Library; and José Manuel Santiago Muñoz, Director of Technological Innovation.
Representing the student body was Carlos Lorenzana Malpica, president of FESAL, who offered a few words encouraging his peers to make the most of this space to explore, experiment and become innovative leaders with the potential to transform society. Jorge Erick Campos Baigts, coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia Design, represented the teaching staff. He reflected on the impact of virtual reality on our lives, its challenges and opportunities, and urged attendees to embrace immersiveness.
Special guests included Joan Paul Sayron Clols, Secretary General of the Department of Education and representative of the Spanish Ambassador to Mexico; Ainhoa Apezteguia Tejada, Mikel Larrayoz and Rosa Martha Márquez Oropesa, representatives of the Basque Government.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees were invited to explore the room, and the first guided tours for teachers and staff began. Over the following days, the invitation will be extended to the rest of the university community. Meanwhile, the Educational Technology Department will begin collaborating with schools and faculties to integrate virtual reality activities into academic activities.
SEI undoubtedly represents an important step forward in promoting the vision of Anáhuac México University to educate people of integrity who are capable of leveraging emerging technologies to positively impact society.
