During the ceremony, Dr. Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas and Dr. Cipriano Sánchez García, L.C., reflected on the importance of education.

On August 14, 2024, Anahuac Mexico University celebrated the opening of the 2024-2025 academic year at the Angel and Tere Losada Theater of the Anahuac Mexiquense Cultural Center. This event marked the beginning of a new cycle of learning and integral formation, reaffirming the Institution's commitment to quality education and the formation of leaders with deep human respect.

Prior to the ceremony, a Mass was celebrated in which Dr. Cipriano Sánchez García, L.C., Rector of Anahuac Mexico, invited the University Community to reflect on the importance of love and service in the formation of leaders: “The true fruit of a person lies is in their ability to love as God loves. It is not only about what we do on the outside but about what we are on the inside,” he said, motivating those present to focus on others, to be willing to change themselves for others and always to seek the common good.

The official ceremony began, and after the singing of the Mexican National Anthem, the Master of Ceremonies, Dr. Alfonso Torres Maldonado, welcomed all those present and highlighted the importance of this event within the framework of the sixtieth anniversary of the University.

The ceremony also included the presentation of the Rector's Medal to the new members of the Rector's Committee: Dr. Erika Benítez Camacho, Director of the School of Psychology, and Dr. Salvador Bueno Valenzuela, Director of the School of Health Sciences, who were recognized for their career and dedication to serving the University Community.

One of the most anticipated moments was the keynote address by Dr. Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas, Rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In his speech, he emphasized the importance of education as a driver of social and economic transformation. He noted that in a country where challenges remain in the coverage and quality of secondary and higher education, a collective effort to improve these aspects is imperative. "Education is not only a tool to compete in the world of work, but also a means to form consciences and citizens committed to the common good," he said.

In his address to the Anahuac Community, Dr. Cipriano Sanchez reflected on the evolution of the university over the years in a constantly changing world. He emphasized the importance of positive leadership based on the values of Christian humanism, such as truth, freedom, justice and solidarity. He also recalled that our University, since its foundation, has been a meeting place from which to contribute to the common good and the development of society.

"Quality education at Anahuac prepares students not only for the world of work but also to become transformational leaders who put their skills to work for others," said Dr. Cipriano Sanchez, emphasizing the need to face today's educational challenges with persistence and a long-term vision.

The ceremony concluded with a moving rendition of Heal the World by the Música Premium Choir, which echoed throughout the venue as a call to positive action and commitment to the well-being of humanity. Dr. Cipriano Sanchez then officially declared the academic year 2024-2025 open and wished everyone present a year of success and personal growth.

Anahuac Mexico University remains steadfast in its mission to educate leaders who shine not only for their knowledge but also for their ability to transform the world through love and service. This new academic year is an opportunity for students and academics to work together to build a better future based on the values the institution has promoted for six decades.
