This year, the SBC global conference featuring the theme “Empowering the Disadvantaged” will take place online and in Montreal from June 15 to June 20, 2023. You will take part in several sessions to discuss contemporary issues in the domain of social entrepreneurship and social business development.
We are now calling for proposals. You can submit your proposals to the practitioner-oriented part or academic-oriented part, or both.
- Practitioner-oriented sessions (June 15 – 18):
The business presentation sessions will feature how organizations in the private sector contribute to the betterment of society through their business activities. Participants will join roundtable discussions to exchange best practices and also can take part in professional development workshops to enhance their social business development.
The deadline to submit your business presentation proposals is May 30, 2023.

- Academic-oriented sessions (June 19-20):
Participants will share with peers their latest research results in research presentation sessions and showcase their teaching effectiveness in sessions dedicated to educators. They can also join workshops to enhance their research and teaching skills as well as find potential collaborators.
We aim to publish the best papers from the conference in special issues on social entrepreneurship at Scopus-indexed journals or in a book series on advances in social business research. All manuscripts will be subject to rigorous blind peer review processes. In addition, the Journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship has agreed to host one special issue edited by its former editor-in-chief, Prof. Mai Thai, and current associate editor, Dr. Amon Simba.
