The Universidad Anahuac Mexico attended the first UNICA-IAU Master Class in Internationalization of Higher Education with the topic What does it mean to be a Vice-Rector for Internationalization in today’s moving world?. It was held in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Organized by the International Association of Universities (IAU) and the Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe (UNICA) -attended by Patricia Eugenia Ruiz Ortega, MS, Director of the Internationalization Department- this event brought together 35 university leaders from 24 countries in the Center for Advanced Academic Studies, and the University of Zagreb.
The purpose of this class was to address the needs of Vice-Rectors and Directors for internationalization in order to achieve a comprehensive, value-based internationalization. In this event, participants presented the internationalization strategies implemented in their own institutions.
During the feedback session, attendees described these discussions as enriching for the identification of geographic priorities and emerging trends in this matter, as well as the benefits and obstacles for contemporary internationalization, thus realigning their strategies.
In the era of globalization, internationalization of higher education has become inevitable. This is why institutions develop deliberate internationalization strategies to improve the quality of education, research, and service to society.
We are aware that this requires the full engagement of the academic leadership as it is gaining increasing relevance in the strategic decision-making process in each country. Thus, the participation of our institution in events such as this once is of the utmost importance.
