Ma. Elizabeth de los Ríos reflected on the positive influence of the doctorate on her career, as it opened the doors to new opportunities and enriched her with new experiences.
On August 14, 2024, the Anáhuac Doctoral School and the Graduate Directorate of the Universidad Anáhuac México organized a welcome breakfast for the new doctoral students, which was attended by students, professors and experts to share experiences and valuable advice with the new students.
Dr. María Elizabeth de los Ríos, researcher and professor at the School of Bioethics, opened this event with a reflection on the challenges she faced when pursuing her doctorate and highlighted the opportunity to belong to the 0.1 percent of the Mexican population that has this academic degree, as well as the commitment that this entails in carrying out high-impact research for social transformation.
She also shared details about the most significant obstacles she encountered in her path, from time management to publishing research and highlighted the importance of staying organized and constantly seeking opportunities to collaborate with other researchers and howher PhD has positively influenced in her career, as it has opened the doors to new opportunitiesthat have been enriched with professional and academic experiences.
On the other hand, Michelle Brener, graduate in Modern Languages and Cultural Management and graduate of the Doctorate in Humanities, offered another perspective by sharing her experiences during the doctorate, highlighting how her perspectives evolved during her studies and provided practical suggestions for new students underlining the importance of adaptability and openness to continuous learning.
Lastly, Angélica de la Vega, lawyer specialized in Tax Law and PhD student in Communication, joined the conversation by sharing the key moments of her doctoral career and offered recommendations on how to balance academic demands with personal and professional responsibilities, without leaving aside the importance of managing stress and seeking support in the academic community.
The event concluded with a question and answer session attended by José Alberto Castilla, director of the School of Bioethics, and Elvira Llaca, coordinator of the Doctorate in Applied Bioethics, who gave a warm welcome to the new students of the University.
