The School of Bioethics and Médica Sur hold the II Forum of Academic Journals of Bioethics

The event brought together experts and representatives from leading academic journals to address current issues in the field of bioethics and medical ethics.

On October 22, 2024, the II Forum of Academic Journals of Bioethics was held at the Médica Sur Auditorium. This meeting was organized by the School of Bioethics of the Universidad Anáhuac México in collaboration with the Medical Ethics Committee of the Hospital Médica Sur, and brought together specialists and editors of important scientific publications in the field of bioethics.

The event began with a warm welcome from Dr. Manuel H. Ruiz de Chávez, director of the Ethics Committee of Hospital Médica Sur. Next, Dr. María Elizabeth de los Ríos Uriarte, research coordinator of the School of Bioethics, presented her paper “Journals of Bioethics and Medical Ethics.”

Dr. David Cerdio Domínguez, General Coordinator of the Anáhuac Center for Strategic Development in Bioethics (CADEBI), presented the Latin American vision of scientific bioethics journals, providing a look at the challenges and advances in the region.

During the forum, several prominent journals in the field participated, including the Medicine and Ethics Magazine of the Anáhuac University, Medic Gazette of Mexico of the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico, Bioethics Update of the Universidad Panamericana and Anales Médicos of the ABC Hospital, among others.

One of the most anticipated sessions was the Keynote Conference “Artificial Intelligence in editorial work: an innovative approach”, given by Dr. Raúl Carrillo Esper, representative of Gaceta Médica de México, who explored the role of AI in editorial management and its ethical and practical implications.

To conclude the forum, representatives of the magazines Gaceta CONBIOÉTICA and Bioética UNAM, together with Dr. Stephanie Dérive, director of the School of Health Sciences of the Universidad Panamericana , led a conversation about the role of universities and bioethics journals.

The second edition of the Forum of Bioethical Journals allowed the exchange of ideas and positions between representatives of the participating scientific journals, and also created an ideal space to encourage research and the publication of scientific articles.
