Alberto García and Antonio Cabrera participate in the International Congress “Global Bioethics and its impact in the 21st Century”

Alberto García y Antonio Cabrera

Both the counselor and the director of CADEBI contributed to the reflection on intercultural and interreligious dialogue in the promotion of an emerging Bioethics.

On September 20th, within the framework of the First International Congress of Bioethics “Global Bioethics and its impact in the 21st Century”, Dr. Alberto García Gómez, dean of the Faculty of Bioethics of the Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum, and chairholder of the Chair UNESCO Bioethics and Human Rights, gave the keynote presentation “Bioethics: a common ground for dialogue”, in which he reflected on the importance of promoting a culture that seeks convergences instead of emphasizing divergences.

That same day, Dr. Antonio Cabrera Cabrera, L.C., director of the Anáhuac Center for Strategic Development in Bioethics, participated in the intercultural dialogue table “Bioethics on the way out, a meeting with the peripheries” together with Monsignor Dr. Roberto Yeny García, Dr. Bernardo García Camino and Dr. Fernando Lolas Stepke, in which they reflected on the importance of avoiding building a self-referential Bioethics, as well as promoting a vision open to preferences where the comfort of academic reflection at the desk is abandoned and goes out to meet the most vulnerable populations.

It is important to highlight that this congress was organized by the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) and created a space for fraternal international collaboration around pressing issues for our society, demonstrating the commitment to finding ethical solutions to current challenges, an effort that will strengthen bridges of dialogue in the promotion of a Bioethical culture.
