In the first semester session, Dr. Zonenszain and Dr. Carrillo addressed the pathophysiological and bioethical significance of brain death, as well as the most relevant medical aspects of this topic.
On September 1st 2023, the BINCA interest group (Clinical Bioethics and Anáhuac Neuroethics) held the first session of the August-December semester, titled “What do we know about brain death?” This event included the participation of Dr. Yael Zonenszain, who has a Doctorate in Bioethics, (gen. '18) and Dr. José Damián Carrillo, founder of said group.
During the session, we had the attendance of 45 students and teachers interested in the pathophysiological and bioethical significance of brain death. The session was divided into three parts: a presentation on the most relevant medical aspects of this topic, followed by an in-depth bioethical analysis from different bioethical currents and finally a section of conclusions and questions from the panel.
In this session, active participation was observed with questions of great interest about the topic, which were answered by the speakers, thus generating a space for dialogue that gave the opportunity for discussion and research.
