Interdisciplinary projects of Clinical Bioethics
“GERARDO DEL VALLE TOCA”
To generate and implement initiatives in the field of Clinical Bioethics research, training, and management that will contribute to solve, comprehensively and in a timely manner, the clinical cases of human reality.
Its main actions include:
1 Contributing to the knowledge generated in the field of Clinical Bioethics, with an interdisciplinary approach to clinical cases, among the students of Medicine connected to the faculty, the RUA (Network of Anahuac Universities), AMFEM (Mexican Association of Faculties and Schools of Medicine), and ALAFEM (Latin American and Caribbean Association of Faculties and Schools of Medicine).
2 Participating in the training of bioethicists from Mexico and Latin America in the field of Palliative Care, through the partnerships of the Anahuac Mexico University, the RUA, and Mexican (AMFEM) and Latin American (ALAFEM) Schools of Medicine, according to the previous Faculty director.
3 Establishing a bioethics consultancy model for healthcare personnel, patients, and family members in hospitals throughout Mexico.
4 Supporting the International Neuroethics Institute (P. Carrara) to establish and consolidate itself in Mexico and Latin America, mainly, as a Bioethics and Neuroethics research and dissemination group, through interdisciplinary forums and online courses.
5 To support the National Bioethics Commission in its objectives, particularly the training, set-up, and accreditation of Hospital Bioethics Committees in the country.
Background
Rationale
Bioethics is a new interdiscipline (45 years) that is called on to study the ethical problems arising in the actions of man upon man in the subjects related to life and healthcare.
One of the fields in Bioethics that is deemed to have the highest priority is the ethical training of those professionals who work in healthcare.
The need to create positions for bioethicists in hospitals to guide medical decision-making.
Establish a methodology to address and provide solutions to ethical dilemmas derived from clinical practice.
Value the human person and their dignity in the hospital environment.
Keep bioethical principles in mind when making medical decisions.

Education
The Chair will look for opportunities for students in the masters and PhD programs to have fields for internships.
This will promote a closer connection between the education sector and the professional sector in our educational programs and promote excellence in the preparation and training of our students.
Similarly, in a period of two years, the aim is to launch a Block of professional studies, which will consider a master's degree in Bioethics specializing in Clinical Bioethics.
Research
There will be a full-time or part-time researcher dedicated to the analysis, comparison, and adaptation of bioethical conflict resolution methods in clinical practice to contribute increasingly to new methodologies, concepts, and theories that adapt to the Mexican reality and ensure the wellbeing of both patients and the medical staff treating them.
Implementation
The goal is to create a permanent service of Bioethics counseling with specialists in the field within the most important medical centers across the country, whose objective will be to provide professional guidance regarding the ethical values involved in the medical situations, to issue recommendations that can serve as guidelines for accurate decision-making.
