Abstract
Mexican bioethics began formally in 1993 with the first Master course and the CONBIOETICA. Today Mexico has laws that, although not complete, show how the government and the whole country have become aware of the importance of Bioethics in the past 23 years.
Although there are few Universities and training Institutes in Bioethics around the Mexican Republic, as well as few local laws which have been proposed and approved, it is obvious that actions on the subject are taken all over the country. This was achieved through the law published in December 2011, on the obligation and duty of every health center to have a Bioethics Committee with Bioethicists, which prompted different professionals to study and obtain academic degrees on bioethics. The growing need of legislation will give way to law proposals. After a brief account of the evolution of bioethics in Mexico, this article describes the legal developments that have taken place over the years on various subjects such as cloning, assisted reproduction, euthanasia, among others.
