Abstract
Traditional medicine has been widely employed since ancient times and, today, it is considered as an interesting option because functional foods can be incorporated within the diet, in order to prevent or coactivate in the treatment of certain illnesses. Among several cuisines, Mexican traditional foods have been reported to exhibit a wide range of health benefits due to their phytochemical components.
