Abstract
Since appearance-based teasing constitutes a psychological aggression with negative consequences when experienced in childhood and adolescence, it is essential to use standardized, objective scales to measure it. The objective of this research was the adaptation and validation of a modified version of The Perception of Teasing Scale (POTS), designed to evaluate weight-related teasing and competencies, as well as sex differences and age correlations. The sample comprised 378 Mexican children aged nine to twelve. Analyses of frequencies, percentages, comparisons, correlations, and reliability were conducted, together with exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The psychometric properties obtained were satisfactory.
