The 5 characteristics of today's leadership

The concept of leadership has been changing over the years. We have seen great cultural, political, social and spiritual leaders come and go; we know the great changes that a single person can achieve. Today we have realized that there are great everyday leaders, who do their bit to build a better society. These are the modern leaders who are in homes, on the streets, in universities and in companies. But what are the qualities of a positive action leader? Let's analyze them in more detail.

Qualities of a leader

At Anáhuac University we are clear that a leader needs to develop skills aligned with social changes in order to develop professionally and personally. Here we share some characteristics worth highlighting:

Human vision

A good leader knows who the people involved in the development of a process are. Every project and product around us has passed through the supervision of a human being in one way or another. A modern leader will know how to identify this, even in the most difficult moments.

Approach

To lead a group of people, it is important to know that the decisions made are not always the easiest or the most popular. Sometimes difficult decisions need to be made: a leader knows how to focus on the goal and how to lead his team to the objective.

Persistence

The bigger the goal, the longer and more challenging the path. As a leader, it is important to have a strong persistence, to keep going even when it seems too difficult. This includes motivating the team to continue and sharing the vision, drive and positive attitude in the face of difficulties.

Modesty

Knowing how to recognize one's own limitations and mistakes is essential. A good leader must know how to delegate and trust in the abilities of others, recognizing that there are tasks in which other people are more capable of succeeding. He will also know how to humbly recognize mistakes, knowing that they are part of the path and that great lessons can be learned from them to continue moving forward.

Commitment

A leader is committed to his team, to his goals and to the development of each person who comes into contact with him. He is committed to his highest ideals, to his ethical vision, but he is not closed to listening to new perspectives and proposals. He is committed to human values and to the search for the greater good in everything he does.

To be a boss or a leader?

Modern companies know that only good human leaders make good bosses.
Today, people look for jobs where they feel inspired and surrounded by people they can learn from.
That is why it is important that, starting from your academic training, you develop the skills and competencies necessary to be the human leader that today's environment requires.

Our goal as the Anahuac University Network is to train positive action leaders who have the ability to detect opportunities and face failures as learning experiences.

A positive action leader will always lead the team as a member, identifying himself as an element within the team he leads.

Positive Action Leaders

Comprehensive training, focused on our students, is essential at Anáhuac University to boost potential and develop skills.

Our students graduate with an excellent academic level and deep social commitment as we focus on promoting five dimensions of the person:

  • Intellectual: Necessary to stand out in the workplace. Our students acquire tools for analysis, synthesis, problem solving, decision making and critical thinking.
  • Human: Aimed at promoting values, habits and virtues, emphasizing health care and exercise.
  • Social: Focused on the development of social awareness, collaboration and leadership always with the aim of generating good for society.
  • Spiritual: Our students learn to give meaning to life and the importance of transcending vertically and transmitting faith.
  • Professional: We seek to enhance knowledge so that all our students achieve academic excellence.

Anáhuac University's competency-based approach allows students to develop not only hard skills, but also soft skills.

Soft skills promote collaborative work , ease of communication, problem solving and decision making. This is achieved through the promotion and active participation in university life outside the classroom.

A leader who graduated from Anáhuac University has the ability to exert a positive influence on his group, is prepared to face any adversity, ready to maintain order in difficult times and make decisions to resolve the situation.
